Nobody knows you better than God!
O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
Psalms 139:1-3

My father was in pursuit of another vehicle. So he began to check out online ads and local newspapers. After much searching he found a car that he was interested in. He called the owner to set up a time to come take a closer look. I watched as he intently looked the car over he didn't just glance at it but he examined just about every inch of the car. When God searched us he didn't just glance at us but he examines us deeply. That is some kind of search!
Not only does God know where you are He knows who you are! He knows everything about you and He cares all about you. Nobody knows you better than God. In Psalms 139 the Psalmist, David gives a picture of how well Almighty God knows each and every one of us. God has searched you out even before you were born and because he has searched you he knows you.
Because He has searched you He knows your sitting down and your rising up. We are never out of His sight. We are always on His radar. Later in Psalm 139:7 David asks, Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
Because He has searched you He understands your thoughts afar off. So even before your thoughts can get to you He knows them. Sometimes our thoughts are misunderstood to others, but not to God. He knows even when we can't articulate what we want to say. So talk to Him because He understands. In Isaiah 65:24 it says, “It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.
Because He has searched you He comprehends your path. He knows where you are going. In Proverbs 3:5-6 it says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. All we have to do is trust him along the way.
Finally, because He has searched you he is acquainted with all of our ways, the good, the bad, and the ugly. So God knows the why of what we do whether it's good or bad. God knows you very well. He even knows those isolated places where no one is allowed. God knows all about you He loves you and has the best plan in mind for YOU. Jeremiah 29:11 declares, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Perhaps you've never thought of the magnitude of how well God knows you. God knows you very well, but do you know him? Have you searched for Him like He's searched you? Or maybe at one time you were searching but lately you have stopped. I encourage you today or sometime this week to spend time searching for God. You can find Him in His Word, in prayer, and by spending quiet time with Him!
